New music alert!
I write a lot of music and quite a bit of it is not really suitable for my band. So, I’ve ended up with lots of unfinished songs, ideas and riffs, just being sat on my hard drives for years. A little while ago, I decided I needed to do something with all this music. Over the last few months, I’ve been working on all of this material and have ended up with quite a few completed pieces. And then the question arises, what to do with these new songs?
So I’ve decided to just put these new songs out there and see what happens. I am open to licensing this material, so if that is of interest, please contact me and have a chat!
The first song is “After the Rain” This is actually quite a recent composition, as I decided I wanted to write an “instrumental” guitar track. Thats not something I’ve been particularly comfortable in doing in the past, as I’ve always considered myself a songwriter first and foremost. Therefore, I’ve tried to give it a traditional song structure, but with the guitar providing all the melody, rather than a voice doing so. But this track came together pretty quickly and I’m quite pleased with it!
There will be several more songs uploaded over the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
Its raining loop videos! Here are parts 13 and 14. I’m trying to be more proactive with posting new videos and other content but we’ll see how long real life allows me to do that!
I’m gradually trying to update parts of my website, so you should see some changes over the next few weeks.
First off, I have updated the Photos section of the site. A few more up to date photos are now on there.
Another new post! Phew!
Here is Going Loopy Part 12
I love improvising. Its one of the reasons to be a musician. Just like in life, it easy to take a fall, but the trick is to be able to pick yourself back up as quickly as possible.
Thank you for visiting my site! For those of you who come here more regularly, I promise I’ll start to post a bit more. A hectic teaching schedule (and real life) tends to get in the way of me posting, but I promise to be more active on here. I have a lot of new video content to upload, so keep checking out my youtube channel. I will obviously post those new videos on here too.
So, the eagle eyed amongst you, will have noticed that my website address has changed slightly. I set this site up with a .eu website address. However, our friends who wield the power, have decided that post Brexit (sorry!) in order to use a .eu website address, you must have a European Union postal address. Ridiculous, but there we go. Who would have thought that my little artistic endeavors, would be affected by the cock up that is Brexit!
Therefore, I welcome you to http://www.guitargeek.me.uk All that has changed is the domain suffix. I quite like .me.uk It’s all about me 😉
Going Loopy Part 9. Filmed last year, finally uploaded…
Here is a video of my band The Nightwires playing recently at Kedleston Hall in Derbyshire. This is a brand new song called “Feel Alive”
I’m playing my PRS RH2010 Special here, probably the most versatile guitar I’ve ever owned.
Its been a while since my last update, mainly because I’ve been so busy! Given the number of people who want guitar lessons, I can confidently say that the demise of Rock n’ Roll has been much exaggerated!
I though I’d update my fellow guitar geeks, with a few details on the latest version of my pedalboard
Signal chain: Boss TU3 tuner – Xotic Effects EP Booster – Boss Blues Driver – EHX Op Amp Big Muff – TC Electronic Pipeline Tremolo – TC Electronic Alter Ego Echo Delay.
I’m pretty happy with this setup at the moment. The Boss Blues Driver is a stock, bog standard model that I recently bought from Ebay. There is so much “cork sniffing” going on with regard to pedals. People paying crazy amounts for boutique drive pedals that “sound like” a Blues Driver. Just save some money and buy a stock one!! Through the right amp, they sound great. Luckily, it boosts both my Morgan and Friedman Amps, in a equally pleasing manner.
The Big Muff is also new. I’ve never really got on with fuzz pedals, but when I saw Billy Corgan had been working on a fuzz with Electro Harmonix, I thought it would be worth a try. It’s early days, but it does sound pretty darn good.
I’ve got a few new videos in the works and I’ve been trying to keep my Instagram feed updated, so check over on the right hand side of the page, for that.
